Left, right or left and right?

With only 4 weeks to the first round of the French election, it seems that France is falling for the 'The Third Man' Francois Bayrou, whose ratings have increased from 6 per cent to 22 per cent in the course of the last few months, now just behind Royale and Sarkozy.

So what is it that is attractive about Francois Bayrou, well firstly, he overcame a terrible stutter which apparently blighted his childhood, secondly he prefers tractors and horses to fast cars, and thirdly, he comes from the countryside, Bearn in the Pyrenees, from simple beginnings and his politics therefore favours that of the rural worker rather than the city slicker.

He is described as the sexiest candidate. He quotes poets and knows them, women find this attractive. His campaign centres on what he is not (elitist, rich) and what he won't do (spend, make false promises). His key pledge is to handpick a future government from the ranks of the right and left.

So who will you vote for, Right, Left, or un 'mélange chaud!'
